Making Homemade Dog Treats: Applesauce, Carrot and Oats
Have you read the ingredients on your dog’s treat bag? WOW! Dogs (and people for that matter) should not be consuming a long list of unpronounceable syllables! Sheesh!

Here is a super fast and healthy treat biscuit your dog is sure to love and you can feel good about feeding him/her.
You will need:
- Whole Wheat Flour
- Applesauce
- Carrots
- Quick Oats
Just 4 easy and recognizable ingredients! I use my homemade applesauce so I know there is no added sugar.
Heat oven to 350 F.
First thing to do is grate the carrots with the fine side of the grater:
Then add equal parts of the remaining ingredients. If you grate 1/2 cup of carrot, then add 1/2 cup of applesauce, 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour and 1/2 cup of quick oats. Mix well and turn out onto hard surface. Pat dough into 1/4 inch thickness.
Using a cookie cutter, cut dough into desired shapes and place onto a cookie sheet lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
Bake in oven for 20 – 25 minutes until cooked through. Remove from pan, and allow to cool. Place in an airtight jar. These will keep for about a week on the counter. (That is if your dog allows them to last that long! )
Happy Wagging Tails!
